A well-crafted blog post requires research as well as an engaging writing style. Links and references matter, and in the age of "fake news" it's important to double-check your sources. There's plenty of tools available to improve your writing, however, so find a good topic and go!

A successful blogger draws their readers in and keeps them returning for more. Those readers are your current or future clients – you want to keep them around! Of course, there will also be the occasional troll, criticizing products or services (deservedly or not) just to create friction, so blog moderation is important to keep the trolls at bay. But it's also important to respond to the sincere comments or questions as well.

Blogs allow two-directional communication: company-to-client and client-to-company. Many websites also include a function for readers to rate the usefulness of other users' comments – so it's important to stay active in those conversations. Or, you may want to disable comment functions. Perhaps there are no staff available to moderate or respond to comments in a timely fashion. This does make it a one-directional blog, but it can still be well-received by readers as long as it's a solid source of relevant, useful information!

A company blog shouldn't be treated like a side-project. "Quality first," as they say. Writing posts isn't unlike writing a new article every time, so the work should be approached with due diligence.
